Mauro Utzeri studied in Rome at the Music Conservatory S. Cecilia, under the guidance of M° Rebecca Berg.

He made his debut in Nina pazza per amore by Paisiello (Cantiere di Montepulciano).

Competitions and awards:

He won the Toti dal Monte competition (1991) and made his debut as Guglielmo in Così. fan tutte in Treviso, under the baton of Peter Maag.

He won the William Walton Foundation Award and the Francisco Vinas Award as the best Mozart - singer.

Operatic debuts and activities:

He has performed the following roles: Conte and Figaro - Le Nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo - Così fan tutte, Malatesta - Don Pasquale, Belcore - Elisir d’amore, Mephisto - Faust, Falke - Pipistrello, Dandini - Cenerentola, Bartolo - Barbiere di Siviglia, Leporello and Masetto - Don Giovanni, Betto and Marco - Gianni Schicchi, Sacrestano - Tosca.

He has sung in the following theatres: La Scala in Milan, Carlo Felice in Genova, Regio in Turin, La Fenice in Venice, Costanzi in Rome, Comunale in Florence, San Carlo in Naples, Comunale in Messina and others prestigious theatres in Europe.

From 1994 to 2000 he has been guest in the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro for several Rossini Operas and has sung the roles of Taddeo - L’Italiana in Algeri, of Filiberto - Signor Bruschino, of Chausser - Guillaume Tell and of Riccardo - Matilde di Shabran.

He has worked with important conductors and stage directors such as Roberto De Simone, Pierluigi Pizzi, Luis Alva, Pier'Alli, Jannis Coccos, Antonio Calende, Carlos Saura, Dario Fo, Maurizio Scaparro, Ferruccio Soleri, Trisha Brown, Luis Pasqual, Fabio Sparvoli, Cristina Comencini, Salvatore Accardo, Jeffrey Tate, Peter Maag, Jordi Savall, Gianluigi Gelmetti.

Sacred repertoire: Requiem by Faurè, Requiem by Brahms, Messiah by Haendel, Saint John´s Passion by Bach.

Recordings: He has recorded operas for Emi Italia, Naxos, Bmg, Harmonia Mundi and Bongiovanni.
