Klara Kolonits was born in 1973 in Budapest within a family of musicians, her grandfather Dénes Bartha having been the world known professor of musicology and founder of the subject of Musicology at the Franz Liszt Music Academy of Budapest. 1995 she received her soloist diploma with award from the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. Between 1995 and 2003 she was member of the Csokonai Theater in Debrecen and received a scholarship at the Hungarian National Opera. She took part in a long tour through the Netherlands as guest soloist of the Szegediner National Theater. Further on she was guest soloist at the Operetta Theatre in Budapest and sang the primadonna roles of Franz Lehár´s and Emmerich Kálmán´s Operettas in German in Budapest, Frankfurt, Leipzig and München. Since 2003 she has been soprano soloist at the Hungarian National Opera. 1997 she was awarded the II Prize in the III International Singing Competition in Budapest and was finalist at the Toti dal Monte Singing Competition in Treviso, Italy, where she received a special mention (Attestato di particolare segnalazione.) 2000: she received a Special Prize and the First Prize at the Singing Competition of the Hungarian Broadcast. 2003 she received the II. Prize and a Special Prize at the International Haydn Singing Competition Szombathely.(the I.Prize was not awarded).She sang many recitals, as for example in Chicago (DePaul University.Concert Hall, conducting Hill Kagan), in Wien (Konzerthaus, conducting Daniel Inbal), in Paris (in T.V. , conducting Kömíves Sándor) and took regularly part in the Spring Festival in Budapest in 2000, 2004-2006 with Liederabende, Oratorium and Opera. 2005 July : she was Donna Anna in Mozart´s Don Giovanni at the Open Air Festival in Gars am Kamp (A) directing Karel Drgac, conducting Ivan Parik. 2006 Budapest Spring Festival: In the first performance ever in Hungary of Mozart´s Mitridate, rč di Ponto she sang the role of Sifare under the baton of Vashegyi Györgyt. 2006-2007 she sang Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and Mimi in Bohéme in Brno (CZ), Donna Anna in Zagreb (HR) (director :Olivier Tambosi, conductor :Johannes Wildner), and Olympia / Giulietta / Antonia in Les Contes d´Hoffmann in Gijon and in Logrono, Spain ( under the baton of J.Stich). and at the Miskolc International Operafestival, Hungary. 2007-2008: Lucia di Lammermoor (Lucia) - Summer Festival, Budapest; Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Olympia,Giulietta, Antonia) - Operafestival, Miskolc Rigoletto (Gilda) - Cluj-Napoca, Romania; La Traviata (Violetta) - Osijek-Croatia; Zagreb, Croatia (conductor: Loris Voltolini).
