Born in Napoli, Giacinta Nicotra brilliantly graduated in modern literature at the University of her home town. At the same time she began her musical studies in Rome. After some years as member of the choir of the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli, she started her career making her debut in Rossini’s Cenerentola in the summer season of the San Carlo, Napoli.

1999: winner of the Adriano Belli Competition of Spoleto;

2000: winner of the Premio Viotti

Operatic debuts

1998: Pulcinella (protagonist) at the Academy of Santa Cecilia, Roma, also performed at the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli.

1999: Le nozze di Figaro (Cherubino) and in Dido and Aeneas.(Dido) within the A.Belli Competition in Spoleto

2000: Le nozze di Figaro (Cherubino) – Trieste,Teatro Verdi; L’Incoronazione di Poppea –Firenze; Barbiere di Siviglia (Rosina) –Savona, Teatro Chiabrera; Stiffelio (Dorotea) - Trieste, Carmen –Spoleto; La Cenerentola (Angelina )- Savona, later also under the baton of M° Gelmetti. Concerts in Trieste for the Amici della Musica, as winner of the Premio Viotti, and in Lyon with the Orchestre National de Lyon.

2001: La Rondine, Die Zauberflöte (seconda Dama) Roma, conductor M° Gelmetti. Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Orchestra Regionale Toscana and again Le nozze di Figaro (Cherubino) with the Accademia di S. Cecilia, in concert.; Il matrimonio segreto (Fidalma) – Teramo; Signor Bruschino - Trapani.

2002: Cenerentola (Angelina) –Savona; Suor Angelica – Roma, Teatro dell’Opera; La serva padrona – Firenze; Baroque music concerts in a tour in France.

2003: Tancredi –Trieste, Teatro Verdi; Barbiere di Siviglia – Teramo; Orfeo all’inferno – Trieste; Francesca da Rimini - Roma.

2004: Orlando (Dorinda) Ravenna and Reggio Emilia, Le Comte Ory (Isolier) - Bologna, Die Zauberflöte (seconda Dama) - Roma; Francesca da Rimini - Macerata.

2005: Così fan tutte (Dorabella) – Roma, Teatro dell’Opera; Li finti filosofi - Jesi, Nozze di Figaro (Cherubino) – Roma, L’incoronazione di Poppea – Brescia.

2006: Andrea Chènier (Bersi) - Japan and Bologna, Die Zauberflöte- Macerata.

2007: Aida (Sacerdotessa) – La Scala di Milano; Traviata (Flora), Così fan tutte (Despina), Geirg Trakl e La sorella Grete Rivelazioni e Declino – Teatro dell´ Opera di Roma.
