Born in New York, he started his musical studies at the age of eight and in 1988 he took his piano diploma. His singing studies started in 1989 and his teachers were G. Zervanos, M. Krilovic and K. Paskalis. In 1996 he took his melodrama degree under the instruction of C. Paskalis.He continued his studies in Greece with Fr. Voutsinos and he went on with William Matteuzzi in Italy in 1998.Now he studies with Alberto Rinaldi. Competitions and awards: 1998: Prize at the International Opera Competition European Union 2001: First prize at the International Competition Giuseppe di Stefano Operatic debuts and activity: Since 1994 he has been singing at the National Greek Opera where he has performed in the following operas: Il barbiere di Siviglia (Conte Almaviva), La Cenerentola (Ramiro), Anna Bolena (Riccardo Percy), L’elisir d' amore (Nemorino), Die Zauberflöte (Tamino), Così fan tutte (Fernando), Rossini’s Stabat Mater (Part of tenor solo), Rota’s II cappello di paglia di Firenze (Fardinand), Rossini’s Le Comte Ory (Comte Ory) and other. Since 1998 he has performed in productions abroad: in Wildbad (Germany), Rossini’s II viaggio a Reims (Belfiore); Chieti (Italy), Ia cambiale di matrimonio (Edoardo); Baden-Baden (Germany) and Paris (France), Berlioz’s Béatrice et Benedict (Benedict). In 1999 he sang Bach’s Johannes Passion (Evangelist) in Naples (Italy), A.L Weber’s Requiem in Erfurt (Germany), Il Signor Bruschino (Fiorville) by G. Rossini in Florence and Pisa (Italy), Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (Tamino) in Jesi, Livorno, Pisa, Lucca, Ravenna (Italy). 2000 brought him to Wildbad (Germany) for Armida (Femando), to Cosenza (Italy) for Falstaff (Fenton), to Lyon (France) for Beethoven’s Fantasia. In 2001 he was in Rome and Modena (Italy) to sing in Prova d'orchestra by G.Battistelli, in Strasburg (France) and Pesaro for Il viaggio a Reims (Libenskoff); he then went to Düsseldorf (Germany) to sing in La dame blanche (G. Brown) by A. Boleldieu, and returned to Italy (Trapani) for La Sonnambula (Elvino). His 2002 season was marked by performances of Rossini’s Stabat Mater in Beirut (Lebanon), and of L'Italiana in Algeri in Pavia, Cremona, Como, Ravenna, Brescia (Italy). During the same period he has started a successful collaboration with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein of Düsseldorf, where he has been invited to sing in L’italiana in Algeri (Lindoro), La Sonnambula (Elvino) and La Cenerentola (Ramiro), and, subsequently, the roles of Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Ernesto in Don Pasquale, Conte d’Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto. He has also participated in the productions of the Megaron of Athens (Athens Concert Hall), Mozart’s Requiem, Così fan tutte, Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Eleni by Th. Mikroutstkos, Antìgone by M. Theodorakis.During the last seasons he was also being heard as Ernesto in Don Pasquale in Rome (Italy), and as Elvino in La Sonnambula in Zürich. Other recent engagements include L’italiana in Algeri (Lindoro) in Treviso, Tancredi and Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Comunale di Firenze, La Cenerentola at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania and in a tour to Japan. Then he sang Il barbiere di Siviglia, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Die Fledermaus (October 2006) and Die Zauberflöte (December 2006) in Athens. In 2006 he also took part in a Russian tour with the Piccolo Teatro di Milano singing Così fan tutte. Recently he appeared in Modena, Piacenza, Ferrara with Puccini’s Il Trittico, and in Athens with the Greek National Symphony Orchestra performing Pergolesi´s Stabat Mater and Mozart’s Requiem. 2009: Requiem by Berlioz - Atene; La Cenerentola – Garsington; L’inganno felice - Atene. 2010: Il turco in Italia (Don Narciso) - Düsseldorf; Stabat Mater (Rossini) and Thaïs (Nicias) - Athens (Megaron); Rigoletto (Duca di Mantova) - Athens (G.N.O.); Cenerentola (Don Ramiro) - Garsington Opera Festival (England); Puritani - Essen; Emilia di Liverpool – Athens. |
