Andrea Shin was born in Seoul, studied at Accademia della Scala, Mozarteum in Salzburg, at Prayner Konservatorium in Vienna and has been awarded in numerous competitions including Voci Verdiane in Busseto and Hans Gabor Belvedere in Wien.

He was a member of the ensemble of Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe he performed titles like: Un ballo in maschera, Rigoletto, La Traviata, Tosca, Carmen, La vestale, Die Fledermaus, Boris Godunov.

Among other guest engagments in Germany: Werther, La traviata, Rusalka, La bohème and Rigoletto in Hannover; Tosca and Madama Butterfly in Stuttgart; Tosca in Erfurt; Mefistofele in Mainz; Katja Kabanova in Münster; Don Carlo in Aachen.

In 2018 he made his debut with the Metropolitan Opera New York as Roméo in Roméo et Juliette and later with he performed Rodolfo in La bohème.

Engagements between 2019 and 2022 include Turandot (Calaf) and Madama Butterfly (Pinkerton) at Dortmund Theatre; Turandot (Calaf) in Darmstadt; La forza del destino (Alvaro) at Daegu Festival; Turandot (Calaf) - Oper im Steinbruch, Tosca in Seoul; Verdi’s Requiem in Tampere; Aida (Radames) and Boris Godunov in Korea; Aida in Karlsruhe; Attila (Foresto) and Carmen in Seoul; Tosca in Leipzig.

In 2023/24: Aida in Karlsruhe, Carmen in Leipzig, La forza del destino in Seoul, Turandot in Düsseldorf, Tosca in Leipzig, Faust in Daegu, Turandot with Festival Luglio Musicale Trapanese.

In 2024/25: Turandot in Hong-Kong, Don Carlo in Helsinki, Aida in Karlsruhe, Il trovatore with Festival Luglio Musicale Trapanese.

In 2025/26: Norma (Pollione) in Leipzig; Turandot in Düsseldorf and Köln; Il trovatore in Düsseldorf.

In the autumn 2026 he will debut in Canada with Turandot in Montreal.
