
He graduated in singing, with full marks, in 1990, at the Conservatory N. Paganini of Genova, with Soprano G. Ravazzi. He has attended vocal master classes with P. Montarsolo, C. Desderi, C. Bergonzi and stage perfecting courses with Bertinetti, L. Codignola, B. de Tomasi and S. Piacenti.
Finalist of several national and international competitions (As.Li.Co. di Milano, Laboratorio lirico di Alessandria, Toti dal Monte di Treviso, Caltanissetta); winner of the 1st International Competition Spazio Musica in the role of Figaro in 1991; winner of the 2nd competition of Pistoia with the Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto in 1993; winner of the audition, hold by M° Gelmetti, to enter the Accademia Rossiniana di Pesaro in 1995.
In 1989 he made his debut in Cenerentola (Dandini) of Rossini at the Festival Opera in Canto, obtaining the critics and audience approval.
From 1987 he has performed a repertoire that goes from ‘600 to ‘900 in Italy and abroad: New York, Tenerife, Granada, Caracas, Casablanca, Dublin, Barcelona, Lisoa, Scotland, Ireland and Switzerland.
From 1992 he has worked in the most famous italian and european theatres: Regio in Torino, Torre del Lago, Carlo Felice in Genova, Opera of Roma, San Carlo of Napoli, Opera of Nice, Opera of Sofia and in Belgium (Bruxelles and Antwerpen).
He has partecipated to a tournée in Germany, France and Switzerland singing in twenty theatres the role of Schaunard and that one of Dulcamara at the Teatro Mancinelli of Orvieto.
He has sung with the following conductors : D. Oren, G. Kuhn, B. Campanella, G. Gelmetti, P. Maag, M. Rostropovich, B. Rigacci, M. Arena, A. Campori, J. Mauceri, J. Tate, P. Steinberg, J. Acs, F. Carminati, C. Desderi, R. Giovanninetti, H. Handt, E. Tabakov.
He has worked with the following directors: L. Ronconi, P.L. Pizzi, G. Patroni Griffi, A. Fassini, B. de Tomasi, G. Montaldo, E. Dara, R. Panerai, M. van Hoecke, U. Gregoretti, S. Vizioli, L. Arruga, R. Faenza, G. Marini, E. Sagi, B. Morassi.
He has recorded for RAI (Bohème de Centenario, Requiem de Mozart) and for Tele+3 (Zaide). He has also recorded two Operas of Galuppi, Il mondo della luna and Il mondo alla roversa, for the recording company Bongiovanni and the cantata Le Tentazioni from M. Paradiso.
He has taken part to the Bohème del centenario (Benoît, Alcindoro) brodcasted worldwide at the Teatro Regio in Torino with Luciano Pavarotti, Mirella Freni, Nicolai Ghiaurov, conducted by D. Oren and directed by G. Patroni Griffi. Claudio Ottino also sang in Sly by Wolf Ferrari, with José Carreras, coproduced by the Teatro Regio and broadcasted in Italy and then brought abroad on tournée.
