Cristina Melis

Mezzosoprano

Mezzo, born in Sardinia, graduated in flute at the Conservatorio in Sassari and in singing at the Conservatorio in Parma. She had masterclasses with Maria Casula, Giusy Devinu, Virginia Zeani, Bernadette Manca di Nissa, Michele Pertusi, Giorgio Zancanaro, Romano Franceschetto. Among the Competition where she was awarded: in 2004 first prize at Lauri Volpi, in 2005 first prize at Verdi in Parma, debuting Azucena.


Among the main theatres where she performed are San Carlo in Napoli, Comunale in Bologna, Maggio musicale fiorentino, Regio in Torino, Massimo in Palermo, Opera di Roma, Arena in Verona, Cagliari, Regio in Parma, and in Liege, Kiel, St. Petersburg, Madrid, Londra, Bruxelles, Berlin, Budapest, Toulouse, Düsseldorf, in roles like Cenerentola, Isabella in L'italiana in Algeri, Carmen, Azucena in Trovatore, Amneris in Aida, Suzuki in Butterfly, Adalgisa in Norma, Cieca in Gioconda, Madelon nello Chénier, Sara in Roberto Devereux, Fenena in Nabucco, Maddalena in Rigoletto, Requiem di Verdi, Manfred di Schumann, Petite messe solennelle.


She has worked with such eminent conductors and stage director as: Bartoletti, Morandi, Chaslin, Steinberg,R.Abbado, Bisanti, Severini, Beltrami, Wilson, Giaroli, Seghedoni, La Vecchia, Dinic, Campanella, Renzetti, Finzi, Rolli, Conlon, Mariotti, Kovatchev, Yves Abel, Rizzi, Arrivabeni, Jurowki, De Tomasi, De Ana, Zeffirelli, Pizzi, Micheli, Sammarita.
