Rino Matafù was born in 1990 in Savona and started to study music at an early age. He is studying with the tenor Andrea Elena, and distinguished as young talent at Spiros Argiris International Competition in 2014, thanks to it, Rino took part to a masterclass with the tenor Fabio Armiliato and the soprano Daniela Dessì.
In 2015 debuted Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at Teatro Cantero in Chiavari and at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova he covered Rodolfo in La bohème.
In 2016 he debuted Alfredo in La traviata at Teatro Centrale in Sanremo, Ismaele in Nabucco at Petruzzelli in Bari and Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto at Central Florida Lyric Opera, role that he performed again in July 2017 at Reggia di Colorno (Parma).
In February 2018 he will be Alfredo in Traviata at Opéra of Clermont-Ferrand.
Among the main roles of his repertoire: Rigoletto (Duca di Mantova), La traviata (Alfredo), Nabucco (Ismaele), Lucia di Lammermoor(Edgardo), L'elisir d'amore (Nemorino), La bohème (Rodolfo).
