Bass Peter Martinčič started to study singing in Ljubljana under Professors Edita Garčevič - Koželj and Marjan Trček to enrol later on at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, where he graduated with honour under Professor Matjaž Robavs. He has been a permanent member of the Ljubljana Opera Ensemble since 2011 and a distinguished soloist of the SNG Opera in Balet Ljubljana (Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana) since 2015.

In 2024/25: Zaccaria in Nabucco with Opéra de Toulon, Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Re/Ramfis in Aida in Cagliari, Il barbiere di Siviglia, La bohème and Nabucco in Ljubljana.


In 2023/24 he debuted Mefistofele by Boito at Teatro Lirico in Cagliari and was Sparafucile in Rigoletto with Opéra de Toulon, Mustafà in L'italiana in Algeri, Méphistophélès in Faust, Gremin in Eugene Onegin in Ljubljana.


His main recent engagements in Ljubljana between 2018 and 2022 include: Lindorf, Coppelius, Miracle and Dapertutto in Les contes d’Hoffmann, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Banco in Macbeth, Mephistopheles in Faust, Conte di Walter in Luisa Miller, Alidoro in La Cenerentola.


Among the roles of his debuted repertoire: Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Zaccaria (Nabucco), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Colline (La bohème), Daland (Der fliegende Holländer), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Escamillo and Zuniga (Carmen), Lodovico (Otello), Štrukelj, The Innkeeper (The Nightingale of Gorenjska), La Haine, Ghost of Ardan Camil (Amadis de Gaule), Petruccio (Black Masks), The King, The Bandit (The Shepherd).


In the 2011/12 season he appeared as a guest singer at the Royal Opera in Versailles and the Opera Comique in Paris in the production of the baroque opera Amadis de Gaule by J. C. Bach. In 2013 he performed at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, where he sang Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte. In 2015 he appeared at the Regensburg Festival in Germany in the role of Colline in La bohème. He was also a guest singer at the City Opera in WrocƗaw in Poland, where he was Ferrando in Il trovatore. In the season 2016/17 he appeared in two new roles, Alidoro (La Cenerentola) and Don Fernando (Fidelio).


As opera soloist boasts a number of recognition awards from various singing competitions. He received a gold citation at the Slovenian State Competition TEMSIG in 2004, as well as a gold citation and first award in the highest category in 2010. He was also a finalist of the Ondina Otta International Competition of Opera Singers in 2010. In 2011 he received the Best Obligatory Song Interpretation Award and the Krakow Festival Award.
