Armenian-born soprano, Liana Aleksanyan is considered one of the outstanding lyric-dramatic voices of her generation. Since her European debut in 2005 as Manon Lescaut at the Norwegian National Opera at the age of twentyfour, she has appeared on Europe's most important opera stages and is a permanent member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.


As a Verdi and Puccini specialist, she has enjoyed international success in roles such as Cio-Cio San  in Madama Butterfly, which she has performed at La Scala in Milan conducted by R. Chailly, in Hamburg, Köln, Düsseldorf, Valencia, Florence, and Buenos Aires, among other venues. Other highlights include title roles in Tosca, debuted at Petruzzelli in Bari (where she already performed in Simon Boccanegra) in the season 21/22 alongside the Adriana Lecouvreur in Düsseldorf, Luisa Miller in Hamburg, and the Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro during the same season.

In the 2023/24 season, she appeared as Micaela in Carmen at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, as well as the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier and debuted Elisabetta in Don Carlo in Düsseldorf. The 2024/25 season saw her perform Tatjana in Eugene Onegin and Tosca in Leipzig and at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich.


Role debuts for the 2025/26 season at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein include Chrysothemis in Elektra and Balkis in Gounod's La Reine de Saba, she will also of Tosca.


She has worked with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Simone Young, Giampaolo Bisanti, Francesco Ivan Ciampa, Riccardo Frizza, Giampaolo Bisanti, Antonino Fogliani, Valerio Galli, Antonello Manacorda, Emmanuel Villaume and directors such as Andreas Homoki,Hans Neuenfels, Hugo de Ana, Mario Pontiggia, Alvis Hermanis,, Damiano Michieletto, Stefano Poda and among others.
