Tigran Melkonyan was born in Yerevan and earned his master degree from the Yerevan Conservatory with honors in 2021.

He has recently participated in masterclasses with Richard Bonynge, Jonathan Paap, Roberto Frontali, and Barbara Frittoli as part of the George Solti Academy of Belcanto.

Since 2022 he is refining his skills under the guidance of Maestro Antonio Lemmo.


Since October 2019 Tigran has been soloist in the Young Artist Program at the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre where he has the opportunity to debut prepare and debut some important roles of his repertoire: L’elisir d’amore (Nemorino) and Lucia di Lammermoor (Edgardo), La traviata (Alfredo) and Rigoletto (Duke), La bohème (Rodolfo) and Madama Butterfly (Pinkerton), Eugene Onegin (Lensky), Aleko (Young Gypsy) by S. Rachmaninoff, Anoush (Saro) by A. Tigranyan, Sayat Nova by Al. Harutyunyan, Almast (Persian Bard) by Al. Spendiaryan.


In 2023 he took part in the opera Robin Hood by Michele Dall'Ongaro, conducted by Pietro Mianiti at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, where he has been guest in 2024 in The Fiery Angel (Agrippa von Nettelsheim) by S. Prokofiev, staged by Emma Dante and under the baton of Jordi Bernacer, and in 2025  (conductor Jordi Bernàcer); and in 2025, he performed Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny (Jacob Schmidt) by K. Weill, staged by Henning Brockhaus and conducted by Luka Hauser, and where in April 2026, he will be Alfredo in La traviata, under the direction of Sofia Coppola and the baton of Jordi Bernacer.

In 2025, Tigran also performed in the opera Robin Hood by Michele Dall'Ongaro at the Royal Opera House in Muscat, Oman, and a concert at the Osaka World Expo in Japan.


Since 2021, Tigran has collaborated with the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra (conductor Ed. Topchjan), performing L. van Beethoven's IX Symphony, W. A. Mozart's Requiem, A. Dvorak's Requiem.

He has participated in numerous concerts in Armenia and abroad, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Kaunas Philharmonic in Lithuania,  Russia.


Tigran is a winner of national and international competitions, including: the I. Bogacheva “St. Petersburg” Competition (II prize, Russia), Fausto Ricci Competition (III prize and audience award, Italy), “Romansiada” Competition (I prize, Armenia), Maria Caniglia Competition (audience award, Italy), “Singing Armenia” Competition (first prize, Armenia), among others.
